French Funerals & Cremations - Golf Course & ParadiseCelebrating the Life of Frieda
Frieda was born on May 16, 1951, in Alamosa, Colorado, and peacefully left this earth on October 17, 2025. Though her family and friends deeply feel her absence, they choose to celebrate the beautiful life she lived - a life filled with love, laughter, music, and generosity.
Frieda had a rare gift for making everyone feel at home. Whether she was welcoming family for a visit, spending time with friends, or meeting someone new, she radiated warmth and kindness. Her bright smile and contagious laugh could light up any room, and she was known for never arriving empty-handed - always bringing a little something special to show she cared.
Music was the soundtrack of Frieda's life. She loved having music playing wherever she went - filling her home, her car, and every family gathering with songs that lifted spirits and brought people together. Whether it was classic favorites, soulful tunes, or something to dance to in the kitchen, music was her joy and reflected her vibrant, loving energy.
Frieda lived life surrounded by people - it was her happy place. She loved attending school and athletic events, parties, concerts, performances, and family gatherings. She always showed up, cheered loud, and had a good time. Her social spirit brought energy and joy to every occasion, and she had a special way of making everyone around her feel like they belonged.
Her love for family ran deep - not only for her children and grandchildren but also for her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, whom she adored as if they were her own. Frieda's camera was always in hand, ready to capture every smile, hug, and milestone. Those countless photos now serve as cherished reminders of a life fully lived and a heart that loved deeply.
Originally from Colorado, Frieda spent many years in New Mexico and Nevada before returning home to New Mexico to be close to her loved ones. She was a devoted mother and a proud, doting grandmother whose greatest joy was being surrounded by her family - especially her grandbabies, who were the light of her life.
To know Frieda was to feel love, light, and life all at once. Wherever she went, she belonged - and she made sure everyone around her felt the same.
She is survived by her children, daughter Tanya Chavez (Bill Chavez) and son, Freddie Chavez (Tanya Fitzjerrell); her grandchildren, Lindsey Meairs (Jake Meairs), Santana Chavez, Adriana Chavez (Christopher Parra), John Paul Fitzjerrell (Annie Fitzjerrell), Mathew Leyba, Fredo Chavez, and Brooke-Lynn Chavez; and her great-grandchildren, Mesa Meairs, John Paul, Angelo, and Mateo Fitzjerrell.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
A Celebration of Life for Frieda will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside Chapel. The reception will follow the service and be held in the FRENCH - Westside Reception room. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, laughter, and music - just as Frieda would have wanted.
Those wishing to honor Frieda's memory are encouraged to do so by carrying her spirit forward: cheer loudly, dance often, play your favorite song, take a picture with the people you love, and never show up empty-handed. That's how Frieda lived - with love, joy, and a giving heart - and that's how she will be remembered forever.
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
