Obituary Frieda Stalzer
Frieda Stalzer née Juran died March 8,2025 of natural causes at her home in Ridgewood, NY. She was born July 17,1921 and was 103 years old.
Frieda was the oldest child of Johann and Margareta Juran. She is survived by her son Rudy, grandchildren Katherine and Steven, two great granddaughters Ivy and Lily, of Massachusetts and sister Emma Holzl of Austria. Her husband Philip predeceased her. Her predeceased siblings include brothers Frank and Robert. She has numerous nieces, great-nieces and nephews on two continents.
She was born in Gottschee in the former Yugoslavia now part of Slovenia.
She immigrated from Austria after WWII and worked tirelessly in her adopted country to succeed. She worked cleaning houses for mostly German speaking clients. As a result, her broken English became a distinctive characteristic. An avid cook and baker, her strudel and Christmas cookies were perennial favorites among friends and relatives. She was a lifelong Catholic and was married in and attended St Matthias Church. She lived a full life with devotion to family and faith.
Visitation will be held before the church service at 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Matthias Church at 10:15AM Thursday March 13. Interment to follow at St Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. Morton Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St Matthias RC Church, the Gottscheer Relief Association or your favorite charity.
