Fritz Von Goering

Harold Ray Jennings (Hal), born at UC Hospital, San Francisco, California on March 31, 1930, of adopted parents Floyd and Lela Jennings. After finishing high school and some college, Hal enlisted with the California National Guard at San Mateo while working as a draftsman for Ceco Steel in San Francisco. He completed three years with the California National Guard and transferred to the US Air Force as a Surgical Orderly in the 99th Medical Group. Hal was sent overseas to Great Britain and was stationed with the Royal Air Force for two years and eight days. One day he had a coke with Princess Elizabeth while she visited the troops. On another occasion of one of Harold's leaves from the base in England, he ventured out to a comedy club. While in the audience, the comic started a banter with Hal and another fellow. After the show, the comic asked if the two men would come back when they had leave from the base again. At that time Harold knew that he wanted to be in some kind of show business.
That decision led to his career in Professional Wrestling. Known as Fritz Von Goering, the last of the 1950's, 60's, and 70's age of professional wrestlers, he took his last breath August 13, 2024, at 94 years. Fritz had a long career of 27 years with many titles. He traveled all over the USA and internationally to Japan, Korea, Canada, and Mexico. He appeared on television and film and even wrestled a 600 pound Canadian, brown bear named "Victor the Bear." Fritz Von Goering was inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, Class of 2009.
Fritz loved life, family and friends and will be missed by his wife of 63 year, Kay, daughter Joy (Marc) Strahm, daughter Linda (deceased) and Patrick Wright, son, John Christopher Gabor, grandchildren, Stephanie (Rich) Horner, Robert (Beth) Hartmann, four great-granddaughters and twin great-great-grandsons. A private military burial service will be held for family and friends.
