Gabriel "Gabe" Brenner

Gabriel (Gabe) Brenner, age 82, beloved husband of 58 years to Ellen (Cookie) Brenner, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was the son of Jacob Brenner and Rose Schonwald Brenner and the brother of the late Ruth Brenner Schwartz. He is survived by his loving and loved children, Jennifer Shute (Gary) and grandchildren Hannah and Ethan and Matthew Brenner (Elizabeth) and grandson Jake, and his honorary child Michelle Foels and her daughter Salem. He is also survived by many friends and relatives and those he mentored throughout his life.
Gabe was born and lived in Philadelphia until 2008 when he and Cookie moved to Murrells Inlet. He had several careers including owner/partner of Darby Lumber Co., in Darby, Pa. He was a Master Mason and Master of Emulation Lodge 128 twice. He was a life member of Murrells Inlet Lodge and a 50-year member of Corinthian/Emulation Lodge.
His wife, grandchildren and children were the light of his life. Until his illness in the past few years, he and Cookie were at all events the family celebrated. When he needed dialysis, Fresenius Murrells Inlet became his home many hours each week. They loved him and he loved them.
He was a member and board member of Temple Shalom Myrtle Beach. He served as Building Manager 14 years, only giving it up July 2024. Donations may be made to Temple Shalom Myrtle Beach, 4023 Belle Terre Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.
