Gabriel Francis LaPlume, age 45, resident of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Cheshire Community Hospital with his family by his side. Gabriel was born in Rochester, NH, on October 4, 1979, a son to Russell and Judith (Becotte) LaPlume.
Gabriel proudly served in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2005. Following his service, he became self-employed in home construction, where he found deep satisfaction in building projects from scratch with pride and superior craftsmanship. All his customers loved him for both his skill and his genuine, personable nature.
Gabriel was known for his tireless work ethic and boundless energy. He was an intensely hard worker who never stopped moving, driven by a deep commitment to providing for his family and ensuring they were well cared for, no matter his circumstances.
Above all, Gabriel’s greatest joy in life was his Catholic Faith, and his six children, whom he loved more than anything. He delighted in teaching them everything he knew—from practical skills in building and craftsmanship to the strategic thinking of playing chess, a game he loved and played well. He was happiest spending time outdoors with his children, taking them to beautiful places, sharing his love of nature, and enjoying good food together. Gabriel especially loved fishing and was always content on a boat with a fishing pole in hand. He enjoyed hiking, exploring the outdoors, and cooking or sharing meals with family and friends. He also found great joy in teasing his sister Erin, a playful bond that brought him much laughter.
Gabriel was predeceased by his mother, Judith LaPlume, in 2023.
He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, nephew, and grandson, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father, Russell LaPlume of Winchester, NH; his six beloved children: Riel, Jacob, Sebastian, Maria, Eden, and Leah; and his ten siblings: Melanie, Erin, Jacinta, Luke, Bridget, Lotan, Hilaire, Benjamin, Philomena, and Russell.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River St., Jaffrey, NH 03452.
