Full Name: Gabriel B. Milton
Date of Death: Sunday, July 7, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Gabriel B. Milton announces his passing on July 7, 2024 at the age of 76. Gabe was a true renaissance man-a poet, scholar, builder, handyman, computer whiz, philosopher, gamer, athlete, loving husband and father, and doting cat dad. Born in California, Gabe spent most of his childhood in Mount Kisco, New York, before attending college at the University of Madison, Wisconsin and earning two law degrees from NYU, eventually settling down and raising his family in New Jersey. He had an eclectic career, working at various times as a lawyer, driver, consultant, stay-at-home dad, and government bureaucrat, before spending his final ten working years in what he described as the best job he ever had, in the billing and collections department at Peckar & Abramson, P.C.
An intellectual through and through, Gabe spent his free time looking for answers to the big questions, studying religion, spirituality, astrology, and ethics. His astonishingly sharp mind led him to a diverse array of hobbies, from writing poetry to cycling to horology to mycology to electronic tinkering. He was incredibly dedicated to his family; he loved coming up with creative surprises, finding the gift that would help make your life just a little easier, and was constantly
working to make sure everyone was taken care of. He was loving and warm, and always looking to bring everyone a little joy– often with a spontaneous trip to a local ice cream shop. Gabe was fiercely determined, overcoming both bladder cancer and a heart attack.
His family will miss his quick wit, strong opinions, and (we'll admit it just this once) bad jokes. He is predeceased by his mother Shirley and feline companion Minerva and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Beth; his children Julia, Gregory, and Russell; his brother David (Maria); and his formerly feral rescue kitten Merlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the National Park Foundation.

Gabe and I began elementary school together in Mt.Kisco, NewYork, and graduated Fox Lane High School in the class of 1965. Though we were not personal friends, he had been a constant presence throughout these "growing up years". You will be missed, Gabe.

Gabe was great to be in class with. Always lively and bold, his ideas took flight in a dozen directions. We socialized some outside of class, mostly enjoying nature and going on walks. He was brilliant company, a gentleman and scholar at sixteen, funny and sweet. It was good to see him at the 2015 reunion, and I'll miss him very much at this one.

So sorry to hear of your passing, Gabriel. You were possibly the best poet I ever knew. It was an honor to share the stage with you.
