Gabriel was born early morning on November 27, 2002. The following day he and I spent our first thanksgiving and our first blizzard together. He was dubbed a snow baby from then on. Oddly enough, Gabriel was not a big fan of the snow most of his life. The hospital actually shut down a few months later. When Gabe was small and he asked why I told him, "They were just waiting for you. You're here! The job was done. It was time for them all to go home." Every few years his birthday fell on Thanksgiving. On his 6th birthday he declared, " Mom, the whole world is giving thanks for ME today!" He was so entertained by the thought that everyone in the country was celebrating his presence in the world!
Gabriel grew up with his younger Sister Kaylee, Mom Victoria, Dad Michael and a small menagerie of critters in Hopewell Junction, NY. Even as young boy he lived his life with boundless energy, a huge personality, and an insatiable desire to let the world know that he is here. He was a fiercely protective Big Brother. He started out as a made from scratch adventure partner, but eventually became his Mom's Best Friend. Gabe had a typical childhood full of bike rides, summer camps, playing with cousins, occasional forays into community sports and activities in our town, even at one time fencing, and of course all the adventures and misadventures that come with boyhood. Along with his sister, Kaylee, as teen he also swam a couple of summers for the Red Wing Snappers Swim Team. That was an experience that was enjoyed by the whole family. He spent his school career in the Wappingers Central School District. Even though school wasn't always his favorite place to be in every building he passed through we found teachers who cared for him and were genuinely interested in his success as a student and person.
Gabriel is a really likeable person with an inviting and interesting personality. He's smart and insightful. He has a good heart. He's funny with an endearing goofy laugh. He likes to make sure people around him laugh and have a good time. His outgoing nature combined with genuine interest in the people and world around him means he never met a stranger. Not once in his whole life. He made friends everywhere he went even when he was a baby. Parks, the doctor's office, the library, anywhere he was there was always a friend for Gabe. Young or old didn't matter, they were drawn to him. Gabriel is a loyal friend to the people he allowed to be part of his circle. He also has a large chosen family, some of whom have been there most of his life. Gabriel's people mean the world to him. He cherishes you all.
Gabriel has always been an artistic soul. Growing up you could usually find him drawing or writing and illustrating his own comic books. When he was a little boy, he enjoyed making costumes of his favorite superheroes from drawings and things we had around the house. He even tried making short videos and movies with neighborhood friends. As he got older Gabriel found his calling, his true passion, making music. He put his blood, sweat, and tears into writing his lyrics. He spent hours learning editing and techniques to make his own videos, finding beats, recording and re-recording his songs. He put himself out there at all times. He was constantly talking to people about collabs musically and for exposure. He was brave, sure he could be big. He was starting to become known in the drill scene. His YouTube is @GdotBrim059. If you like drill music, he's got you covered. If you really want to hear Gabriel for who he is, look for his lyrical rap songs. That's where you'll find him.
Gabriel met the love of his life, Ki-Yeir, during their time together at John Jay High School. He was smitten with Ki from the beginning. After a few years together they created a gift for themselves and our whole family, their daughter, Serenity. Gabriel wished for her. He is so proud to be her Dad. They share a birthday so she was destined from the start to be his best bud. The love that Serenity and Gabriel have for each other is so palpable, it's pure. It's beautiful.
Sadly, Gabriel has left us all for now at 22 years old. We barely got to have him. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled. He will continue to be loved and cherished by all who cared for him during his life. We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives. Until we meet again Kid.
A message from Gabriel's friends and chosen family:
Never in a million years did we think we'd have to say our last goodbye to you, Gabriel. You weren't just a friend. You were a son, a father, a brother, family. Blood was never needed to see that. Your presence filled every room, and now the space you left behind feels too quiet. You broke us with this one, but our love for you will never fade. You'll live on forever in our hearts, because this isn't goodbye... it's see you again.
P.S. - Thank you for being such a loving and loyal friend, bro. Your heart and your energy will never be forgotten. You are loved and will be missed dearly.

I'm sorry for the deep pain of the mosca family. May serenity live a long beautiful life and have her father's talent. May there be healing for all of the young souls taken far too soon. Rest in lyrical peace.
