Robert Mosca Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Charter Funeral Home on Dec. 2, 2025.
Bob Mosca, proud and devoted father of 2 children and 3 grandchildren, of Pelham, AL, returned home to the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2025, passing peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1943 to Albert Leo and Patricia Mosca. When he was a young boy they moved to Culver City, CA, where he grew up with his older sister Pat and younger sister Jackie. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and, when stationed at Fort Rucker, AL, met his wife Janie Driggers of Geneva, AL. They lived in Savannah, Los Angeles, and Montgomery before settling in the Birmingham area in 1980 with their children Christina and Bobby.
Bob made the courageous leap to start his own business in 1983, and with the support and help of his wife, through hard work, tenacity, guts, and smarts, they succeeded.
He was also proud of the work he did in support of the community. Mayor Richard Arrington appointed Bob to the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Zoo, charged with the task of directing the Board to privatize the zoo. That transition is credited with the many improvements to the zoo since the early 2000s and regaining its accreditation.
Bob served as Executive Director of the Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation, directing fundraising efforts, especially with the Alabama Legislature, that led to the construction of the Alabama Veterans Memorial standing today off I-459 at the Liberty Parkway exit.
Bob greatly enjoyed his time producing and hosting his TV shows. He hosted The Time of Your Life (on WOTM) with his wife, Janie, and At Your Service (on WVUA)with his great friend Jack Galassini. He hosted both shows for 25 years and his son will carry them on.
Through his adventures he never lost sight of his purpose and priority: his family. He built for them a foundation to thrive on their own, showed them a deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Resurrection, and loved them with all his heart, will, and strength.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Leo Mosca and mother, Patricia Mosca.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janie Carolyn Mosca; his daughter Christina Carolyn Poff (Richard); his son Phillip Robert (Bobby) Mosca (Caitlin); his three grandchildren Richard Glynn (Richie) Poff III, Patrick Phillip Poff, and Caterina Carolynn Mosca; his sisters Patricia Ward (Bruce) and Jaqueline Lam (Charlie); and his nieces Amanda and Meredith and nephews Michael, Thomas, and Mark.
Interment for Mr. Mosca will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Friday, December 5 at 11 am, with a brief ceremony.
A full memorial service will be held for Mr. Mosca in the Chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Friday, December 5 at 2 pm.
In leu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Mr. Mosca's honor to the Urology Health Foundation (urologyhealthfoundation.org) or Autism Support of Alabama (autism-alabama.org).
