Gabriel Lea Scurlock January 19, 2000 – January 23, 2026
Gabriel Lea Scurlock transitioned into the next life on January 23, 2026, at the age of 26, following an illness. Gabriel was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew. He was deeply loved, and his absence leaves an empty space in the hearts of all who knew him.
Gabriel is survived by his mother, Lisa Scurlock; his sisters, Dior Toynton (Derik) and Ashlin Niemczyk (Chris); his nieces, Maeleigh, Madison, and Sloane; his nephew, Parker; his uncles Ethan Stout (Beth) and Nathan Stout (Jennifer); many cousins and his beloved puppies, Lily, Oliver, and cat, Butters, whom he adored.
Though his time here was far too short, Gabriel will be remembered for his sharp, dry wit, remarkable intelligence, and integrity. A tender soul, Gabriel brought humor and laughter wherever he went.
He had a deep love for music that spanned generations—from Eminem, Michael Jackson, Fatlip, and Simon & Garfunkel to Led Zeppelin—and music remained a constant source of comfort and expression throughout his life. He enjoyed video games, quality time with his family, new sneakers, and cool hats. His intelligence was evident from a remarkably young age; by the time he was two years old, he could identify the make and model of cars, especially Saabs, Audis, and Alfa Romeos, astonishing everyone around him.
Though his life was tragically cut short, Gabriel made an impact that will never be forgotten. Our hearts are broken by his absence, but we take great comfort in knowing he is reunited with his grandparent, Con; his grandparents, Gilbert and Sandy; his father, Michael Scurlock; and his aunt, Kendra Scurlock.
A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
