Gabriel Vasquez Jr., age 49, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic after a lengthy illness. Gabriel was born on October 24, 1974, in New York City, New York, to Gabriel and Diane (nee Colon) Vasquez Sr. His family relocated to Lorain when he was just three months old, where he grew up and built a life filled with love, family, and community.
Gabriel was a proud graduate of Admiral King High School, class of 1993. As a teenager, he worked at Fligner's Market, where he developed a strong work ethic that would define his career. He was still finishing the program when he became sick. He retired on June 1, 2024, after 30 years of distinguished service.
A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, Gabriel's faith was an important part of his life. He was also a passionate Cleveland Browns fan, known for his unwavering support of the team through thick and thin. Gabriel found joy in fishing, golfing, and above all, spending time with his family. He was a devoted father, deeply involved in his children's activities, never missing his daughter's soccer games or his son's football and basketball games. Gabriel was an amazing friend and neighbor.
