Gaetano "Guy" John Profumo, 91, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at Seagram's Distillery and CoHart. He also owned a fruit stand when his kids were younger. He devoted his life to his "Sweetie" wife, kids, and grandkids. He loved being a Papaw and teaching them all about life, building things for them to play on, like the big tire swing in the backyard. He loved gardening, playing poker, going to the casino and to the horse track. He lived a long full life and he will be missed dearly.
He was born on November 3, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky to Tommaso and Mary (Diefenbach) Profumo. He is preceded in death by his father, Tommaso Profumo; mother, Mary Josephine Profumo; loving wife of 70 years, Jean Shikuzo Tengan Profumo; siblings, Joseph W. Profumo, Anthony L. Profumo, Suzanne Johnson Peach, Angelina R. Evans, Mary Jo Storzum, Lucia Profumo, Margarita A. Profumo; sons, David G. Profumo, Sr., Thomas G. Profumo; and great-grandson, Trenton Graham.
Guy is survived by his loving family, daughter, Patricia J. (Eddie) McCullough; grandchildren, David Profumo, Jr., Kara-Jean Graham, Phillip Profumo, Jordan Profumo, Jaimee (Greg) Smith, Tyler Profumo, Michael (Casey) McCullough, Mason Profumo, Caitlin Padgett; great-grandchildren, Jailynn, Damien, Devin, Skylar, Kailani, Talus, Cayden, Lainey; beloved dog, Harley; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of his life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
In honor of Guy's love of flannel, the family requests that you wear your favorite plaid or flannel shirt.
