Gail Prejean Cavalier, 85, went to be with Jesus on November 18, 2022, surrounded by her family. Although Gail faced difficult health challenges in the last few years, she always had a positive outlook because of her strong faith in God's grace. She was a loving Mama, Grammère (Mère) and Great-Mère for whom her family was always a source of joy. Gail was a very special lady, genuine, caring, an angel on earth. We already miss her dearly and will carry the blessings of her love in our hearts forever.
Gail grew up near New Orleans, the oldest of three daughters of Larry and Maud Prejean. She married Alvin "Al" Cavalier in 1955 and the couple had four children. They made their home in Gonzales and established a photography and art business, Cavalier Graphics, where Gail, as co-owner, worked for many years. In retirement, with Al, she was very close to her church family and especially involved in several of the church's local mission programs. Gail was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was creative in decorating, enjoyed painting, crafting, gardening, garage "sale-ing," and playing games. She was the Yahtzee queen!
Gail is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Al Cavalier, daughters Cathy Jamison (Steve) and Lisa Colomb (Scott), sons Larry Cavalier (Lenece) and Alvin "Chip" Cavalier, Jr.; grandchildren Katie Taylor (Navah), Hannah Taylor (Dennis), Courtney Cavalier Prestwood (Tony), Victoria Cavalier (Matthew), Savannah Cavalier (Caleb), Summer Christa (Stephen), Jake Cavalier, Faith Cavalier (Mathew), Eden Brown, Henry Colomb and Rowan Colomb; and, great-grandchildren Mo and Eliana Taylor-Spero, Ben and Audrey Christa, Wesley McGinnis, Frank Taylor-Grady and Colin Prestwood; her sister, Debbie Alberto (Jimmy), goddaughter Robin Alexie (Glen) and other nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her mother, father and her sister, Joy Sour.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Healing Place Church Annex on December 1, 2022 at 10:00 am.
