Gail Ann Conte, 77, of Winter Garden, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont. Born in Cullman, Alabama on September 26, 1947 to Malcolm and Lois (Humphries) Wright. Gail built a life defined by family, hard work, and quiet joys.
She began her career at Winter Garden Citrus as a switchboard operator and rose to become Traffic Manager. Later, she joined her husband, Ralph, in running Conte Transportation, where her dedication and steady hand helped the family business thrive.
Gail had a lifelong love of plants, flowers, traveling, working crossword puzzles, and reading. She was happiest surrounded by her family and the simple pleasures she cherished. A devoted Christian, her faith guided her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcom and Lois Wright, and her husband, Ralph Conte.
Gail is survived by her children: Leah Howard and her children Luke and Elijah Howard; Christin (Kevin) Lewis and their children Rylynn and Lawson Lewis; Kristi (Jack) Meakin and their children John and Jake Meakin; and Mark (Tina) Conte and their children Mitchell and Morgan Conte. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Grady, Harper and Brecken.
She is also survived by her brother Larry (Debbie) Wright, her sister Jan (Jim) Holzworth, nieces Shawn (Doug) Peters and Tammy Creech, and nephews Michael (Megan) and Chris (Laura) Wright.
A viewing will be held on October 6th from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home in Winter Garden, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Orlando Memorial Gardens in Apopka.
Gail's warmth, faith, and love for her family touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
