Gail Cushing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial on May 10, 2023.
Gail Suzanne Cushing, 58, of New Providence, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at her home with her loving family at her side.
Gail was born on May 31, 1964 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of Mary Margaret (nee Matuzeski) "Peggy" and Donald Gorski. She grew up in Glastonbury, CT and was a graduate of Glastonbury High School class of 1982. Gail attended Marist College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She lived and worked in New York City for several years before settling in New Providence, NJ where she raised her family.
Gail was truly a one-of-a-kind person whose impact on the lives she's touched throughout the years will always be remembered. Despite going through years of intensive cancer treatments she would always be able to find the silver lining in things. Gail was inspirational to others with her warrior spirit and positive energy. Everything she touched became beautiful. She always took the time to support others going through treatments and brighten their day with homemade artwork and her contagious sense of humor. Above all Gail was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and extraordinary friend.
A talented artist, photographer, fashionista, and stylist; Gail's creativity can be seen in her paintings, portraits, and photos. She was a master gardener and enjoyed going to the beach and traveling. She especially enjoyed visiting Italy with her husband and enjoyed the culture, food, and wine of the Italian people. As a history buff she particularly enjoyed seeing Pompeii and the tudor history of England.
Gail is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, John P. Cushing, and their loving son, Robert Donald Cushing. She was the dear sister of Diane Viveiros (Michael) and David Gorski (Michelle), sister-in-law of Debbie Rogers (Robert), Patricia Cucuel (Art) and Paul Cushing (Cathy). Gail was the cherished aunt of: Mary McIsaac, Alex Gorski, Jack Gorski, Skye Rogers (Megan), Jim Rogers (Marka Sue), Kate Koons (Brian), Meg Rogers (Alberto), Cory Rogers, Keane Cucuel (Julie), Cassi Roberts (Blake), Mandy Franks and Bridget Lykins (Chad). Gail is also survived by a host of loving great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, and longtime friends. She was predeceased by her parents.
