Gail C. Dougherty

Gail Catherine Dougherty, (Abigail) a long-time local restaurateur and real estate agent left us on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024. Gail tirelessly & graciously owned and operated the Char House Restaurant for 46 years and later in life was a real estate agent with Century 21. She was preceded in death by her husband and partner, James Dougherty; daughter, Debbie Schroeder; grandson, Chad Schroeder; brother, Boyd Rowden; sister, Star Ann Rowden, and her parents, Helen Rowden and Frank Carrier. Those left to grieve over their loss of Gail are her daughter, Donna (Glenn Volk) Tarkowski Volk; granddaughter, Kathleen Schroeder; grandson, Ben (Ann Marie) Volk; granddaughter, Kristi (Jim) Ramseyer; great-granddaughter, Allison Schroeder; great-grandson, Leo Volk as well as many loved ones and dear friends. A special thank you to Kristi and Jim Ramseyer as well as lifelong friend, Ned Doyan for giving Gail and Jim so much support, help and love over the years. They afforded Gail and Jim dignity and respect in their later years of life. Very special gratitude to Niche Aging Center, especially Lacey and Jordan, for not only the wonderful care over these last few months but for LOVING Gail, treating her as a member of their family. For those who wish to pay their respects and share memories of Gail, you may do so at an intimate service held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Penzien Steele Funeral Home, 608 N Madison, Bay City, MI 48708. The family will greet visitors on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private burial will take place at Floral Gardens.
