Elaine Ford Sowell was born on September 6, 1952 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Willard and Goldie Banks Reaves.
On November 14, 2025, she was united in marriage to Kevin Sowell, who survives.
Elaine was employed at East Hardin Elementary School as a cafeteria worker. She donated monthly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and Piney Grove Baptist Church. Elaine was full of life and loved to dance. Anywhere there was a dance, you'd find her. This is how she met her current husband Kevin. She loved her great grandkids more than anything and was sure to let you know. Elaine loved to travel and go on adventures. You would think she was still a teenager.
Elaine Ford Sowell departed this life on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Sowell of Selmer, Tennessee; daughters, Tammy Laine Reaves of Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Michele Barrier Hart (George Edwin) of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; son, Jeffery Dale Barrier of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, William Vernon Reaves (Mable) of Killen, Alabama; grandchildren, Cody Wayne Ford, Brittany Lynn Hart, and Akoyae Michele Pipes (Noah Dre); great grandson, Myles Lee Pipes; and great granddaughter, Lilly Marie Ford.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Hubbard and brothers, Maynard Lee Reaves, Donnie Aaron, and Willard Ray Reaves.
