Gail Anita Harkness SCHROEDER

Gail Anita Harkness SCHROEDER, 81, of Clermont, FL, formerly of Wellsville, NY, died September 7, 2025 in South Lake Hospital, Clermont. 

Born March 1, 1944, she was the daughter of Clyde and Clara Burgess Sherwood. On September 12, 1998, in Wellsville, she married Michael Shroeder, who predeceased her in 2023. A graduate of Wellsville High School, she began her working career for the phone company. She was later employed by Big N and was a receptionist for Dr. E.G. Harkness, both in Wellsville. Gail was member of Wellsville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 702 and a former Lady Elk. 

Surviving are: her daughter, Lisa Cook of Belmont; three stepchildren, Michael Timothy Schroeder and Hans Michael Schroeder, both of North Carolina, and Kelly Emerson of Syracuse; two sisters, Gladys Sobeck Murphy of Wellsville and Wilma Wayman of Snellville, GA; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Dr. E.G. Harkness and Michael Schroeder; and two brothers, Richard Sherwood and Donald Sherwood. Her son-in-law, Daniel P. Cook, died on November 16, 2025. 

A service for the family will be held on a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
