Gail Carroll Redding - age 87, of Knoxville, died Monday, November 11, 2024. A Knoxville native, she was a graduate of Fulton High School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College. She was married to her beloved husband, Rev. Joseph Thomas Redding Jr., for 47 years before his death in 2008. Gail was a gracious and loving servant of the Lord and will be missed by many. She faithfully worked alongside her husband in his ministry as he pastored churches throughout the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. Gail grew up attending Trinity United Methodist Church in Knoxville and was an active member of Church Street United Methodist Church after her husband's retirement in 2001. She was born on April 27, 1937, to the late Elmer Edward Carroll and Leola Mae Brummette Carroll in
Knoxville, TN. She worked for many years as a secretary for the Department of Revenue in Chattanooga, TN and for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Knoxville TN where she retired in 2015. Gail made a difference in so many lives and enjoyed getting to know each and every person that crossed her path. Gail enjoyed a life full of love for her family and service to her community. She adored her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed wild flowers, talking to her many friends, attending UT athletic and music events, and volunteering for the Church Street UMC Soup Kitchen. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara Carroll (who helped raise her after her mother's death). She is survived by her son, Kevin Redding and wife, Becky of Rogersville; daughter, Missy Taylor and husband, Jayme of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Emily Roberts and husband Brandon, Ben Redding and wife Briana, Sarah and Noah Redding, and Avery and Bailey Taylor; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Roberts and Matney Redding; She also leaves special friends, Dr. Jonathan and Mary Sowell, Dan Barnett, Dr. Charlie and Sheila Barnett. Celebration of Life service 5:00 PM Monday, November 25, at Church Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Ferguson and Rev. Dr. Jan Buxton Wade officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 3:30 PM. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, November 26, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery – Lyons View Pike for a 1:00 PM interment service. Pallbearers: Rick Ayres, Dan Barnett, Bobby Bryant, Ben Redding, Noah Redding, and Dr. Jonathan Sowell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church St. UMC, 900 Henley St.,
