Gail Rentfrow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2025.
Patricia Gail (Allen) Rentfrow passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 26, 2021, after a brave four-year battle with cancer. She was born September 20, 1952, in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Gail was survived by her husband David Rentfrow of Winter Park, Florida; children Alyssa (Ty) Wells of Pensacola, Florida; Tyra (Eric) Haag of Knoxville, Tennessee; Lakon (Holly) Tucker of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister Susan (Steve) Jones of Pace, Florida; and three adoring grandsons--Noah, Brenton, and Eli Haag--who lovingly called her "Gigi."

She was preceeded in death by her daughter, Amanda Norris Tucker; mother Bonnie Norris Allen; and brother Roger D. Allen. A private memorial service was held at Zion Hill Cemetary in Overton County, Tennessee. Her ashes were scattered in the Great Smoky Mountains atop Clingman's Dome.

Gail was an avid reader, never missed an episode of Jeopardy, loved Tennessee history, and had a passion for classic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. She was a beautiful, intelligent, and kind person with the brightest of smiles that made everyone feel special. She was filled with love for family, friends, God and country. After her time at Tennessee Tech, she was a tour guide at the historic Carter House in Franklin, Tennessee, followed by a career at the State Capitol in Nashville, Tennessee.

Her favorite song was "Moon River." She loved Lawrence Welk, Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland as well as music from the 60s and 70s, especially The Beatles, Elvis Presley, James Taylor, and Carol King. She was an avid supporter of the University of Tennessee sports and adored Peyton Manning. She loved all sports really and had a soft spot for Phil Mickelson.

Her grandsons though were her greatest source of joy and delight, and made her bubble with laughter. She delighted in sharing their lives--watching them excel in their sports, the special trips to Dollywood, drives through Cades Cove, putt-putt games, arcade fun, movie nights, enjoying her famous brownies and epic breakfasts, and magical memories at Disney World. She will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you, God, for "Gigi."
