Funeral services for Gail Schee, 84, of Indianola, who passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2024, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Gail Miller Schee, daughter of Kathleen and Howard Miller, was born on their farm in Clark County, Iowa on September 27, 1940.
Shortly after graduating from Indianola High School in 1958, she married Keith Eubank. They had three children, Pam, Teri and Mike. After her divorce many years later, Gail reconnected with an old high school friend, Jim Schee, at their 35-year high school reunion in California. Jim and Gail married on July 2, 1993, at the Medora Methodist Church. Jim brought two daughters, Lisa and Sharon, to their marriage. The new family was formed.
Gail's work life was widely varied and included being Representative Doug Shull's secretary in the Iowa House of Representatives, a travel agent, a bank teller, and a delivery person for the local Indianola newspaper.
Gail had many hobbies, though her main passion was golf. In fact, Gail's wedding gift to Jim was his first set of golf clubs. Gail taught Jim how to golf. Jim and Gail were members of the Indianola Golf and Country Club for many years, where she was Club Champion one year.
Gail also enjoyed the annual family fishing trip, known as the MCC-WHIPP-DEM-BAS All Pro Fishing Club, in northern Wisconsin. Each September family came from all over the United States to this event in northern Wisconsin.
While Gail was not playing golf, fishing or raising a family, she was involved in politics. She managed and helped with many local, state and national campaigns. Gail ran for Warren County Auditor. She was a Republican State Delegate during Ronald Reagan's run for president, and she chaired the Warren County Republican Central Committee. She hosted a fundraiser at her home for Bob Dole during his 1976 presidential campaign, which was attended by Elizabeth Dole.
Ultimately, Gail's biggest passion was the love of family. She accepted and loved all.
Gail is survived by her husband, Jim Schee; daughters, Pam (Dennis) Hansen and Teri (Roger) Cooper; step-daughters, Lisa (Scott) Raney and Sharon (Tom) Newman; grandchildren, Nichole Cooper, Jessica (Kerry) Gabel, Derek (Sarah) Hansen and Sarah Eubank; step-grandchildren, Allison Gomez and Andrew Raney; great-grandchildren, Austen Cooper, Kamri Gabel, Kyndle Gabel, Eda Hansen and Lyla Hansen; step-great-grandchildren, Aubree Raney and Jesse Gomez as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Eubank; parents, Howard and Kathleen Miller; siblings, Robert Miller and Joyce Woodcock.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m., prior to services, at the funeral home. Memorials, in memory of Gail, may be given to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
