Gail Sue Wahl, 78, of Ashland, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday morning, August 25th 2025.
She is survived by her three daughters; Angela (Sam) Paulin of Sunbury, OH, Amy Stoner and Allison (Nathan) Wilson, both of Versailles, KY; and Stepsons Bradley (Erin) Wahl of Sunbury, OH, Steve (Mindy) Wahl of Marysville, OH, and Brian Wahl of Jeromesville. She was a proud "Memaw" of Shelby Stone (Alex), Zack Plant, Travis Wilson, Sammy & Brianna Paulin, Tyson & Gage Keaton, and she was "Grandma Gail" to Gwen, Colby (Allison), Peter (Rachel), Justin, Mallory, and Corey Wahl. In 2022 she became a Great Grandma to Elliana Raine Uribe of Versailles, KY. Her happiest times were those spent with her precious children and grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister and best friend Phyllis (Tim) Snyder of Versailles, KY, and Nephew Josh (Beth) Heckathorn of Chico, CA and their two sons, and nephew Griffin (Christina) Heckathorn of Versailles, KY, and their children. Along with her family, she was also blessed with precious friends; Margaret Juzwik and Sue Sprunger.
Preceding her in death are her husband Bob, and her parents; Philip and Ruth Reppert Gatliff of Berea, KY.
Gail attended New London High School. Her family moved during her junior year, and she graduated in 1965 from Rochester High School in Rochester, Indiana. Gail was a Cedarville College graduate, with a major in elementary education. She loved children, teaching first grade for 44 years. She taught in Brunswick, Wellington and her last 25 years at Ashland Christian School. She spent almost 20 years as a counselor at Ashland Care Center where she was able to share her concern and offer practical help to pregnant women. Soon after that, she taught a weekly after-school Good News Bible Club in the Ashland public elementary schools of Lincoln, Montgomery, Edison, and most recently at Reagan Elementary as well as Grace Girls at Grace Brethren Church. Teaching children that Jesus loves them was a passion she truly enjoyed and a much-needed truth that children of today often do not know.
After her teaching retirement in 2013, she and her husband Bob enjoyed traveling to different places around the country, they especially liked taking bus tours with groups from Ashland and Wooster. But at the top of their list was spending time with their children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th 2025 with Pastor Glenn Sprunger officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
