Mr. Garnel "Butch" Canary, age 81, of Shepherdsville, Ky passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 9, 1943, to the late Eadred Lee Canary and Mildred Irene (Slaughter) Canary. Butch retired from Dupont Chemical Company after 33 years of service, he was a proud United States Navy Veteran, he belonged to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, and Papaw to his family. Butch enjoyed fishing and hunting, he was strong in his Christian faith, he had a zest for life, a good sense of humor, and he truly loved music. Butch will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Clarence Ray Canary.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Teresa Canary, daughter Tonya Tucker (Randy), son David Canary (Susan), 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visit will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
