Garry Michael "Roo" Embry Jr.

Garry Michael,"Roo" Embry Jr., age 45 years, passed peacefully Saturday, March 11, 2023 at University Hospital with his family all around him. He was "Portland Proud" to have been born and raised in Portland and was baptized Catholic. He was named "Kosair Shriner Kid" when he was 21 years old and he loved being clerk, clean-up man, stock-boy and home repairs teacher at Janes Bros. Hardware where he has worked the last 7 years. "Roo" was a loving, caring person with a heart of gold. He was a U of L Fan, and loved everything about cars, NASCAR and car shows, wrestling, cigarillos, and all kinds of music, as long as it was loud. He loved and missed his "Maw", grandma Louise Wright and was Momma's Boy to both his Mom and to his Aunt Debbie Malone. "Roo" loved and was deeply loved by his family and all who knew him. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Elmer and Louise Wright and Betty and Charles Embry, and his Aunts Sissy, Betty and Mary. He is survived by his parents, Garry and Shirley Wright Embry, 2 brothers, Timothy Embry (Ashley), and Jeffrey Embry (Brandi McNally), 3 Nieces, Kaelei, Riley and Kalysta, 3 nephews, Zander, Bradlee and Jaedon and "Roo's" Second Mom, Debbie Malone. Funeral services will be held 11;00am Thursday, March 16, 2023 at J.B. Ratterman & Sons, 2114 W. Market St. Visitation 2:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday. Cremation is chosen.
