Garry Allen Schlesinger, 67, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on November 24, 1955, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Garry married Paula Bowles on October 23, 2012, and she survives. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Garry was very athletic in his younger years, participating in the Junior Summer Olympics. He enjoyed cooking, playing Scrabble and word games, and he loved to sing.
In addition to his wife, Paula Schlesinger of Carmi, IL; Garry is survived by his children, Dacyal (Vance) Johnson of Fort Worth, TX, Joshua (Heather) Schlesinger of Evansville, IN, Rachel Schlesinger of WA, Scott (Shea) Tedford of Chesapeake. VA, Ari Schlesinger of Charleston, SC, Nathan (Krystal) Mitchell of Springerton, IL, and Heather Leisure of Big Piney, WY; grandchildren, Robert, Kloe, Chrissandra, Alissa, Gabriel, Orion, Catalina, Danica, Allison, Kinslee, Landon and Avery; and two brothers, Steve Schlesinger of AZ, and Barry Schlesinger of PA. He is preceded in death by his parents and step-parents.
Funeral services for Garry Schlesinger will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Union Ridge Cemetery in Norris City, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, November 3, 2023. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
