Died: January 1, 2026 in Rockford, IL
Garth E. Dallam age 75 of Amboy, IL passed away on Thursday Jan. 1, 2026 after a short illness. He was born on Aug. 19, 1950 to Ray and June (King) Dallam. Garth attended Lee Center Grade School, Franklin Center High School, and Sauk Valley Community College. His first job was gas station attendant at the Standard OIl Station owned by Wayne and Judy Forristall, where he learned to work hard and deal with the public. He later worked for Do It Best Hardware in shipping and as a facility engineer for 36 years until retirement.
Garth was married to Carol (Eckhardt) Dallam and they has one daughter, Christi. In 1984 he married Linda (Gilbert) Dallam.
Garth was the president of the Amboy Car Show Committee for more than 25 years. He always loved classic vehicles and he worked hard to make Amboy a showplace for these vehicles during Depot Days. He always made sure that the spotlight on these efforts shown on other members of the Car Show Committee rather than on him. Garth was a lifetime member of the freemasons, lodge #146 in Lee Center/Amboy. He was also a lifetime member of the Lee Center Congregational United Church of Christ. Garth especially enjoyed helping his brother and nephew farm. Garth's life was enriched by his beloved dogs, Rosie, Bear, Lucy, and Sissy.
Garth is survived by his wife, Linda, and his daughter, Christi, Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his brother Gail (Jan) Dallam, Amboy, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews. Garth is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial to follow at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center. Visitation will be on Tuesday Jan. 6, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy and again on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Condolences can be left at www.thejonesfh.com.
