Born: February 9, 1942 in Rock Falls
Died: February 12, 2026 in Sterling, Illinois
Donald S. Bechdolt, 84, of Sterling passed away Thursday February 12, 2026 at Citadel Care Center of Sterling. Donald was born February 9, 1942 in Rock Falls, IL the son of Glen and Elsie (Finley) Bechdolt. He married Glenda McFarland on January 28, 1961 in Rock Falls.
Donald worked at Frantz Manufacturing for over 40 years until his retirement. Donald and Glenda were members of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling, IL. He loved playing tennis, and shooting pool. He enjoyed watching the Cubs and WWE wrestling. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Glenda Bechdolt; one son Bradley (Cathy) Bechdolt; two daughters Brenda Hill, and Melissa (Tony) Summers; seven grandchildren Andrew (Lacey) Bechdolt, Aaron (Stacey Weber) Bechdolt, Nicholas (Megan) Morgan, Addison (Sarah) Morgan, Cameron Hill, Kierstyn (Gavin) Long, and Devon Summers; four great-grandchildren Etta Bechdolt, Evie Bechdolt, Noah Morgan, and Theodore Morgan.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Ronny Bechdolt, and Jimmy Bechdolt; and one sister Patsy Zivney.
Funeral service will be 11AM Friday, February 20, 2026 at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral, from 10AM-11AM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will take place after the service, and burial at Oak Knoll Memorial Park will be at a later date.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
