Garth Roland Marshall, a lifelong resident of Palmer, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 1, 1935, in Palmer, Massachusetts, son of Everett E. and Pearl (Crosby) Marshall.

Garth proudly served in the Army National Guard and spent over 45 years as a dedicated laborer at Diamond International before retiring in 1999. Beyond his professional life, Garth was a passionate train enthusiast, collecting trains and going to steam engine shows, and had a talent for building model airplanes and cars. His ability to build anything was well known among those who knew him. Garth enjoyed camping and cherished the memories of driving cross-country with his family in 1974. He particularly loved car rides in the fall, taking in the beauty of the changing foliage. He was an active member of the Monson Senior Center, where he enjoyed the company of his peers.

A beloved figure in his family, Garth was known as the best Grandpa and took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters, Gretchen Toutant of Warren, MA, and Gwen Szyszkiewicz and her husband Mark of Warren, MA. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Justin Toutant of Palmer, Jonas Cain of Holyoke, Darrick Steel of Three Rivers, and Rachael Stanton of Holden, as well as four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Garth was predeceased by his wife, Gwendolyn (Carey) Marshall, two siblings, Virginia Disley and Everett Marshall, Jr. as well as Pamela Carpenter, his longtime friend and companion.

In honor of Garth's memory, donations may be made to either the American Red Cross or the Monson Senior Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
