Gary J. Applegate, 65, of Concho, Arizona and Carbondale, PA died on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. His beloved wife, the former Theresa R. Ratliff survives him. They were married on August 8, 2021.
Born December 12, 1958 in Camberwell, England, Gary was the son of the late Lilian (May) Applegate and Daniel Gary Applegate of Lockwood NY.
In addition to his wife Theresa, he is also survived by his brother, Joseph Applegate; two sisters, Cathy Applegate, and Susan Vinzant; four children Lilian Applegate, Dan Applegate, Gary Applegate Jr., Janis Applegate; stepson, Brandon Ratliff; stepdaughter, Britney Leiby; granddaughter, Sophia; and his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Applegate, and Dan Applegate and his sister Linda (Applegate) Moore Fernley.
Gary was an avid cowboy; he loved riding his horse Max, and all the time they spent together. Gary will be most remembered for the joy he found in making others laugh and the meaningful memories he made with his friends and family. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, being outdoors, and his animals. He especially loved his Bengal leopard Leo and his dog, Harley. Gary had a heart of gold; he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, finally reunited with his lost loved ones and his beloved dog, Hunter (aka Wolfie) at his side.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Edward Casey officiating in the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472, Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday from 10:30-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary's memory directly to his wife, Theresa.
