Gary Baack Obituary

Gary R. Baack, 80, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, at Hiawatha Care Center. Services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024, 3 PM, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2024, 4-7 PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include sons, David (Janice) Baack of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Paul Baack, of Marion, Iowa; grandson, Ryan Baack, of Cedar Rapids. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn; and parents, August and Waiva Baack. Gary worked with Kirkwood Community College for 21 years in Plant Services (Maintenance) as well as helping his father develop land and build homes in Iowa and Minnesota. He loved to do woodworking, go to NHRA drag races (and watch on TV) and go fishing locally, as well as in Minnesota and Canada. The family is especially grateful for the loving kindness and care provided by the staff members of the Promise House and the Hiawatha Care Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Willis Dady Shelter. Online condolences may be left for the family at cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
