Gary Babcock Obituary
Jacksonville - Gary R. Babcock, 83, of Jacksonville passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Stonebridge in Jacksonville. He was born, Oct. 15, 1942, in Woodson, the son of Orrin and Margaret Babcock. He married Joan R. Donnelly, Feb. 14, 1964, in NY. She preceded him in death, Mar. 29, 2025.
Surviving is son, Gary (Karen) Babcock of Goddard, KS; daughter, Mary Lanning of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Daniel Babcock of Seattle, WA, Holly (Dakota) Babcock-Lamb of Benton, KS, Steven Sills of Woodson and Michael Hills of Jacksonville and great granddaughters, Luna and Daisy Lamb.
Gary was enlisted in the Navy from 1961-1964, serving as a fire fighter while aboard the USS Oxford. After the military, he was employed by the City of Jacksonville Fire Dept. in 1974 and retired in 1997. He had a love for helping anyone and everyone. Gary had a great respect for wildlife and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Cass County Muzzle Loader club for many years. He had a talent for building and repairing Kentucky and Flintlock Rifles. Gary won numerous awards for his marksmanship. He also loved dogs.
A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Daws Family Funeral Home with Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at the funeral home with interment in Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association.

sorry about your loss Mary. I worked with your dad testing fire hydrants many moons ago,it was a pleasure working with him
