Gary John Babin, born on April 6, 1941 in Sorrento, LA, passed away in Gonzales, LA on July 9, 2025, at the age of 84. He was a resident of Lake, Louisiana 51 years. Gary loved being outdoors where he could go hunting, fishing and camping. He was known as the family comedian and had a deep love for music. The band "Boogie Knights" was composed of him and friends, Allison Bourque & Ronnie Melancon, among others. He worked as an operator for BASF plant, which he later retired from. Gary is survived by his daughter, Tyra Babin McCoy & Randy; son, Tregg A. Babin, Sr. Brother, Bernard Babin, Sr.; 9 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren; sister, Glenda B. Ducote & Earl, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He preceded in death by his wife Judith V. Babin; daughter, Tami Babin; maternal grandparents, Octave and Hester H. Villenurve; paternal grandparents, Ellis P. Babin, Sr. and Lucille Sanchez Babin; parents, Ellis Bernard Babin, Jr and Pearl Ruth Villenurve Babin; sisters, Sharon B. Berthelot, Judy Babin; brother, Ronald Babin as well as aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law & cousins.
Visitation will be held at The Church International of St. Amant, LA on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 9am until service time at 11am. Burial to follow at Hope Haven Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Bernard Babin, Jr., Justin McCoy, Tregg Babin, Jr., Ty Berthelot, Dane Carmouche, and Lane Spiers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernard Babin, Sr., Earl Ducote, Chris Trabeau, Don Fife, and Grady Melancon. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Ascension.
