Gary Barr

Gary T. Barr, 68, of South Bend, Indiana, died on Sunday March 10th at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, surrounded by his family.
Gary was born December 9, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Harvester Barr and Jacqueline (Purnell) Barr and was a lifetime area resident. Gary was preceded in death by his brothers Greg A. Barr, Gerald C. Barr, his Mother Jaqueline (Purnell) Barr and his Father Harvester Barr. He is survived by his sister, Gail Barr-Smith of South Bend; his brother, Glenn Barr (Marion) of Niles MI; a host of nieces, nephews, and a close cousin Michael Purnell.
Gary was a 1974 graduate of South Bend LaSalle High School. Gary graduated from Barber School in 1983 and worked as a Barber for Al's House of Style for several years. Cutting hair was not work for Gary, it was his passion. He continued to work as a barber until health challenges prevented him from doing so. In his younger days, he loved singing and music and could croon with the best. After becoming ill Gary spent his last days at Providence House in South Bend. Gary will be greatly missed by loved ones and friends.
Gary's family will be hosting a memorial service, for family and friends, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30th at New Bethel Tabernacle Church, 2627 Napier St. South Bend Indiana with Bishop Cecil E. Golder Jr. officiating.
