Gary Lynn Blocker, 75, of Randleman passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
A casual Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Whitaker Farms on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Gary enjoyed the simple things in life and therefore the family asks that you wear your jeans and casual clothes in his memory. A celebration of his life will be held in Ohio at a later date.
Gary was born on June 1, 1950 in
Mansfield, Ohio to the late Karl and Audrey Blocker. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree from The Ohio State University in 1972 where he met the love of his life, Betty "B.J." Boney. The two of them married on July 8, 1972 just one month after graduation and together began building a family of love.
Gary was blessed with being a "girl dad" to his two daughters, Elizabeth and Emily. He supported them in band, chorus, Girl Scouts and their careers. His commitment to helping others shaped the values he passed down to his daughters. He was most proud of their many accomplishments and was always supportive of his entire family, especially when his grandchildren came along. Papa gave the best hugs and enjoyed every opportunity he had to spend with them.
Gary began his working career at Wrangler and transitioned to L'eggs, where he was instrumental in establishing their catalog business and later became self-employed. When not working, Gary could be found woodworking or spending time with his family. He always enjoyed a cold Coca-Cola, a hot cup of coffee with Carrot Cake and watching The Ohio State University football team play on Saturdays.
Above all, Gary had a profound love for God, his family and his friends. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Greensboro. He had a giving heart and was always willing to help anyone he could. Even in his passing, he wished to continue to help others. Because of his willingness to donate his brain for Glioblastoma research and his gift of tissue donation, his life will continue to bring answers and peace to many families.
Survivors: loving wife of 53 years, Betty "B.J." Blocker of the home, daughters, Elizabeth Anne Pearsall and husband, Jonathan, of Graham; Emily Suzanne Roy and husband, Michael, of Elon; his special grandchildren, Ashleigh and Karly Pearsall, and Garrett Roy; siblings, Claudia Bonham and husband, Terry; Steve Blocker and wife Joyce, as well as several nieces.
