Gary Lee Boyd was born on October 26, 1958, in Pecos, Texas, he was the son of George Andy Boyd and Yvonne Greenwald and later welcomed stepmother, Wanda Boyd. He grew up alongside two full brothers, Greg Boyd and David Scott; a full sister, Nikki Lynn Wiley; two half-brothers, Robert Boyd and Stephen Merchant; a stepsister, Terri Bottoms; and stepbrothers, Chuck Merchant and Randall Boyd. His extended siblings also included two stepsisters, Tina Gotcher and Lillian Kite, and a stepbrother, Benjamin Lofton.

He chose to fulfill his civic duty by joining the United States Army and National Guard before returning home to begin building a family with his ex-wife, Kelly Boyd. Together, they had two children, Krystle and Gary Boyd Jr. He later became a loving father and grandfather to his extended family after his father remarried, embracing that role with pride and devotion.

Gary was truly a jack of all trades and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and wisdom from a boatload of hobbies with friends and family. Growing up, he loved being outdoors, getting into trouble, collecting knives, and watching football—where he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan who made sure everyone knew it, no matter what their losing record was.

Gary passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Mineral Wells on January 26, 2026 at the age of 67.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Bessie Boyd of Mineral Wells; his stepbrother, Randall Boyd; his father, George Andy Boyd; and his stepmother, Wanda Boyd.

He is survived by his brothers, Greg, David Scott, Robert, Chuck, and Stephen; his sisters, Nikki and Terri; his mother, Yvonne; his extended siblings including stepsisters, Tina and Lillian; and his stepbrother, Benjamin. He is also survived by his daughter, Krystal Leigh and her two children; his son, Gary Boyd Jr.; and his extended family, including Amber and Sean Williams and their daughters, Cheynne and Brittney Pagan, Christopher Pagan, and Alecia and Lilly Lofton.

Gary was loved and cherished by many. A loving yet stubborn soul, he left a lasting impact on everyone he embraced. Though the kindest souls are often taken from us too soon, his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

John 16:22: "So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you".
