Gary Steven Broadwater, 69, of Piedmont, passed away on October 21, 2025, at his home. Born on June 6, 1956, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Delbert "Pete" and Norma Jean (McKenzie) Broadwater.
Gary, better known as Ben, was a proud and resilient man who dedicated much of his life to service and community. He served honorably in the United States Army, carrying the spirit of duty into his role as Commander of the American Legion Post 52 in Piedmont. As a disabled veteran, he faced challenges with the same courage that defined his service, leaving a lasting legacy in his community and among those who knew him. For many years, he worked diligently at the Sisler Lumber Company, and in his free time, Gary found joy in the outdoors, passionately hunting and fishing whenever he could. A member of St. James Episcopal Church in Westernport, Gary found comfort and strength in his tight-knit spiritual community.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lisa (Schoppert) Broadwater; siblings, Lois Wade and husband Danny of Westernport, Jack Magee and wife Colleen of McKees Rocks, PA, James "Bruno" Broadwater of Westernport, and Don Broadwater and wife Glenda of White Post, VA; sister in law, Sue (Metz) Liller; and nieces and nephews, Erica, Andrea, Holly, Sarah, and Josh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Broadwater, his niece, Lisa, and his nephew, Corey.
Gary's request for cremation was honored. A celebration of life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 1 PM in the upstairs of the Piedmont American Legion.
The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Piedmont Chapel is honored to be serving his family.
