Gary Busse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duddlesten Funeral Home on Mar. 28, 2026.
Gary Lynn Busse

Lyford, Texas

A son, given by the Lord to Buck & Luella Busse, was born in Raymondville, Texas, on March 15, 1950, and entered his eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, March 26, 2026, following a short hospital stay. The span of his earthly pilgrimage was 76 years, and 11 days.

Today we rejoice in the knowledge that he has passed the barrier of time as we know it, and is forever at home with his Savior, Christ Jesus, who he so faithfully served.

"Pop", as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren, was selfless, kind, and faithful to the end. He lived his life in service to God and was an amazing example to everyone that knew him. He always trusted in God's greater plan and even on the hardest days, he prayed that "His will be done".

Gary, a third generation farmer, was the kind of man who would measure time, not in years, but in seasons. His hands were worn and weathered, shaped by decades of early mornings, long days under the sun, and the steady rhythm of honest work. He didn't just farm the land – he respected it, cared for it and trusted in it the same way he trusted in God's plan.

Faith was something he lived, and you could see it in the way he treated people, in his quiet prayers before meals, and in the way he faced life's hardships with steady strength and humility. God came first in his life, not in words alone, but in every choice he made.

His family was his greatest pride and purpose. Everything he worked for…the long hours, the sacrifices…was for them. He showed his love, not through grand gestures, but through presence, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to provide, protect, lead and guide. Gary lived simply, loved deeply and left behind a legacy rooted in faith, hard work and devotion.

Although the fields may rest quieter now, the seeds he planted, both in the land and in the lives of those he loved, will continue to grow for generations to come.

Gary was proceeded in death, by his first wife, Pam (Jetton) Busse in 2017. For 44 years, Gary and Pam raised a family and set a wonderful example of Christian love and marriage to all who knew them. Losing Pam in 2017 felt like losing the very foundation of his life. She had been his partner in everything…his steady presence, his sweetest love, his home. In the years that followed, he believed the chapter of love and happiness had come to an end for him.

But God had a different plan…

In 2020, Gary met and married Anabel White who is kind, patient, and full of warmth – a truly wonderful person who loves him deeply and wholeheartedly. Where there had once been loneliness, she brought companionship, laughter and renewed purpose. They taught each other, and their families, that love doesn't replace what was lost, but that it can grow again, just as meaningful and just as sweet. Through her care and devotion, he found not only comfort, but a second chance at life. A reminder to us all, that even after profound loss, God shows us grace and teaches us to love again.

Surviving, along with his wife, Anabel, are a daughter and son-in-law, Alison (Jud) Savage, of Lyford; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Ryan (Lara) Busse, and Chad (Julia) Busse, all of Harlingen, a step-son Mark (Jodel) White, of Raymondville; and step-daughter Monica Garcia, of Houston. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren: Justin (Kendra) Rocha, Bubba Rocha, Keller, Sawyer & Jana Busse, Cole & Dylan Busse, and Madison, Riley & Shawn White.

Gary is also remembered and loved by a surviving brother, Dale (Diane) Busse.

A family visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 30th, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 181 E. Wood Ave., Raymondville, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 31st, at 10 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 602 Morgan Blvd, Harlingen, Texas. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral, at Lyford's Evergreen Cemetery.

Serving, as honorary pallbearers are: Dale Busse, Russell Klostermann, Terry Pohlmeyer, Gordon Magdalena, Tommy DeWitt, Chad Cooley, Gary White, Buck Braswell, Larry Bates, Johnny Saenz, Buster Williams, Mark Brown, Foster Crowell, David Wilde, Jimmy Wilde, Charlie Caudill, Steve Krenek and Dr Eric Six.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Rev. 21:4
