Gary Arthur Castle

Gary Arthur Castle was born in Elyria, Ohio in the year 1935. to A.T. Castle and Viola Thomas. He grew up in Elyria and attended the Petty School in New Jersey and earned his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green University. After graduating college, Gary moved to California and worked for Rover Motor Company. There, he met and married Sylvia Stroh (also from Bowling Green) and had four children.
Life for Gary was always about family. We had many great adventures- camping, hiking, and boating. He loved driving Land Rovers and even built a log home by himself. Gary was an honest and hardworking man.
Gary loved Colorado and spent his life exploring the entire state. Climbing mountains, hunting, hiking, skiing and summiting Castle Peak at the age of 81. He read every book on Alaska he could find and made many trips driving up the Alcan to visit family.
Gary was actively involved in athletics throughout his life and played basketball until he was 80. Al ways staying fit, he was an avid jogger until he could not run and then walked everyday until he could no longer walk.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Sylvia, and his family: Laurel "Lori" and Tom Searcy, Heather and Byron Ward, Holly and Mark Honeyman, Arthur T. II and Lara Castle, and David and Steve Castle. His beautiful grandchildren Kimberly, Summer, Derek, Autumn, Zach and Jack Thomas. He also has two great grandchildren: Ayla and Brooklyn. He will be deeply missed by all of us.
