Growing up in the bottoms and going to Clearbrook elementary walking down 17th always passing the Chavis house was always something. Ms an Mr Chavis, Philip, Gary and Karen. Philip becoming very close friends with my older brother Melvin and Gary becoming very close to my younger brother Rodney (Bo). Couldn't hang with those guys because I was always on the move. Certainly going to miss my friend. Rest Easy Lil Bro. James (Beanie) Bynum

Man, G! Back in the 60's on Monroe with The Browns and The Watkins, the Chavis family was right across the way on 17th. Always good neighbors, Mr & Mrs Chavis were kind and hospitable. Rest well, my friend, neighbor and brother. Much Love, Karen and family.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family. The Chavis family and my family,
(The Browns) have a long history of friendship that dates back to the 60's. Our mom's were best friends and Gary, Karen, and Philip and my siblings were all friends as well. Rest in peace old friend.

I worked with Gary at K&G When my vehicle broke down and i could not get to work he would pick me up and bring me and if we got off work at same time he would drop me off at home. He was one of my boss's. We would bump heads sometimes but for the most we got along. You will truly be missed.
Your friend Shelley Faryman.
