Gary L. Ciresi

Gary L. Ciresi passed from this world to greater glory on December 3, 2025, at the age of 74 years. He was the son of Anthony Ciresi, Sr. and Mary (Ruffner) Ciresi.

Born in Rome, Italy, Gary grew up in the suburbs of Rochester, New York, where he worked at Eastman Kodak Company and attended night school. One of his fondest childhood memories was of him and his brother riding their bikes to Brook-Lea Country Club caddying during the summer and learning to play this gentlemen’s sport. Gary, a dependable, hard worker, was never without a job in those days, allowing him to trade in his first car for a brand-new grabber blue Mach 1 Mustang, a proud moment. Gary also volunteered at the Al Sigl Center in Rochester (an organization that provided support to children and adults with disabilities) which inspired him to continue his education at Boston University.

After a brief engagement, Gary and his new bride moved to Kenmore Square: a cultural twist for two young country kids who left family and friends with little money to embark on the unknown. After several moves around Boston and completing his B.S. Degree, they relocated to Quincy where they eventually bought their first “fixer upper”. Meanwhile, Gary worked for Raytheon as a draftsman while earning another B.S., this time in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Northeastern University. He retired from Pfizer, Inc. as a senior manufacturing tech, but Gary wasn’t done yet. Before the Covid outbreak, he transported patients within Brockton Hospital for several years, sharing his kindness and quiet sense of humor with patients and staff. Coming from a gifted artistic family, it was natural for him to create extraordinarily detailed drawings using pen and ink which were displayed on the art wall with other talented artists at Fairing Way, a senior independent living community where he lived with his wife. In the spirit of sharing, he enjoyed giving away many of his compositions. But his greatest gift was how he treated others, beginning with the treasure-trove of love letters he and Karen exchanged while dating.

Gary was a kind; gentle soul always looking to help others and encouraged those who wanted to do better. His generous heart was always apparent. Gary’s first night job in Kenmore Square was at a burger joint, where after hours, he’d slip left over burgers to the homeless through the back door. And over the years, he’d load up the car with college textbooks, handing them out to co-workers hoping to inspire them to continue their education. He treasured his family and even though they were miles apart, the teasing (as kids) would continue during many visits. When his older brother was in town, Gary made a point to take him to major sporting events, making lasting memories.

Gary enjoyed golfing, deep sea fishing with his buddies, cycling the rail trails, cross-country skiing and becoming designated “grill man” at social events. Adopting New England as their home, he and Karen enjoyed traveling throughout the six New England states including The Berkshires with must-see classical concerts at Tanglewood, Gary’s favorite music genre. Hopefully, the Angels played Vivaldi’s Concerto For Two Trumpets RV537 when he arrived Home.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Karen of 52 years, sisters, C. Susan Englander and her husband Stanton, M. Kathleen Abremski and her husband David, all from Florida and brother Anthony M. Jr. (deceased), brother-in-law Charles Smith and his husband Russ Furtado, from Plymouth, many cousins in New York, niece and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, of Florida and North Carolina.

The family wishes to thank everyone at The Dwyer Home, South Weymouth for their exceptional care and friendship. We also wish to thank NVNA-Hospice team for providing additional support and loving comfort for Gary.

Family and friends will honor and remember Gary’s life by gathering for a funeral service in Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian Street, Weymouth, on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. 

Interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
