Gary Cooper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whiting's Funeral Home - Williamsburg on Nov. 8, 2023.
Gary Lashawn Cooper affectionately known as "G", completed his journey on Friday, November 3, 2023. Gary was born on Thursday, September 29, 1988, to Ethel Cooper of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Gary Welsh of Yorktown, Virginia.
He attended Bruton High School in Williamsburg, Virginia. Later in life, Gary accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He was a longtime employee at Buffalo Wild Wings and was a jack of all trades.
Gary enjoyed fishing, skating, and being the life of the party. He took pride in spending time with his children and family whom he adored and loved so much. He was a kind, giving, and caring person. He loved cooking delicious meals for his family, especially grilling out often. To know Gary is to love him. He will be greatly missed and his affectionate laugh will always be in our hearts.
Gary is preceded in death by his son, Gary L. Cooper Jr., and grandparents, Lillie Mae Cooper and Mary "Bug" Welsh. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Crystal Cooper; three blessed children, Jahkeem, Jahmeer, and Harmony Cooper; loving parents, Ethel Terrell (Michael) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Gary Welsh of Yorktown, Virginia; father-in-love, Clay Brooks and mother-in-love Wanda Tabb (Todd), all of Charles City, Virginia; one brother, Tevien Reid of Williamsburg Virginia, five sisters, Markita Girven (Terrell), Shaelee Bailey (Steve), Shantaza Murray (Cassandra), and Shekendra Welsh, all of Newport News, Virginia, and Garmeisha Welsh of Yorktown, Virginia; devoted family members, Carl Dobson, Teyon Cooper, Darlene Saunders, and Mary Cooper: and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
"Forever In Our Hearts"
A service to celebrate Gary's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mr. Cooper may be viewed on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
