Bradley Alexander Hancock, 37, died suddenly on November 13, 2025. A lifelong resident of Newport News and Williamsburg, VA, Brad attended Hampton Christian School through the 9th grade and completed his education at Bruton High School in Williamsburg, graduating in 2006.
During his youth, Brad pursued his two great passions, basketball and racing. He began playing basketball in the Williamsburg youth recreational leagues ending in high school where he played on the varsity team at Bruton. His love of racing began at age 9 when he began competitive go-kart racing throughout Virginia and North Carolina. This led to his greatest passion, racing US Legends cars. He excelled in this arena and made many great memories traveling the country with his dad, establishing many great friendships. He was a great driver and won many races along the way. He was most proud of his 2011 race season winning the track championships at both Langley Speedway in Hampton and Southside Speedway in Richmond. He also holds the current track record at his home track Langley Speedway which was also a great source of pride for him. Left to cherish his memory are Brad's beloved parents, JoAnne Hunt Kmetz and Steven Richard Hancock (Allison), his long-time partner, Shelly Jean Smith, their son, Blake Alexander Hancock, and Blake's half-brother, Landen Thomas Pedersen .Brad is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Belvin Hunt, his paternal grandmother, Carolyn Jeanfreau Hancock, and his step-grandmother, Doris Joan Kmetz, along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Brad was predeceased by his stepfather, Thomas Joseph Kmetz; grandfathers, Willard Alexander Hunt and Ben Johnson Hancock, and step-grandfather, Wallace Joseph Kmetz. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown, VA.
