Gary was born September 30, 1952, at Ardmore, to the late Mr. Richard D. Crosthwait and Mrs. Mary Virginia (Loughridge) Crosthwait. He departed this life Sunday, February 15, 2026, at his home in Lone Grove.

Raised in Springdale, Gary attended school there until the eighth grade, when he transferred to Dickson, where he excelled academically and graduated as Salutatorian from Dickson High School in 1970. Following high school, he pursued further education at Oklahoma State University (OSU) for four years, a journey during which he met Linda Sue Braswell, the love of his life. Their bond culminated in marriage on May 19, 1973, in Stillwater, beginning a partnership that would be a cornerstone of his life. Gary graduated from OSU in 1974 and embarked on a fulfilling career as an OSU Extension Agent in Cordell. His professional journey took him to various locations where he managed cattle facilities, showcasing his expertise and passion for agriculture. In 1983, he earned his master’s degree from OSU while residing in Poteau and working for the Kerr Foundation, further solidifying his dedication to the farming community. In 1990, Gary returned to the area he loved, taking on the role of manager for Gore's Angus in Ardmore. His knowledge and leadership in the industry were well respected, and he was known for his unwavering commitment to quality and excellence in cattle management. After retiring, Gary embraced a new chapter in his life, building his own cow herd. In this role, he found immense joy and pride in becoming “Cowpa” to his grandchildren. His legacy will forever live on through the values he instilled in his family and the love he shared with them. He was a member of the Cheek Baptist Church.
