It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gary Eldred Cunningham shares the passing of their beloved father, brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
Gary was born October 23rd 1950 to Eldred and Arlene Cunningham in Burlington Vermont. As a jack of all trades, he was known throughout the community as the local milk man, flooring contractor, and all around handyman whose opinion was often sought out. If you were fortunate enough to cross paths with him, within minutes you were lifelong friends.
Although he was often known as the life of the party, to his family and friends he was so much more. He was a strong shoulder to cry on, the man you ran to when life got hard and the first one you wanted to call to share great news. He taught all of us life lessons, the importance of embracing every moment and most importantly that the people you surround yourself with are the ones that truly matter.
Although Gary worked hard he loved even harder. His passion for his family was first and foremost to him. You would usually find him hanging out with his kids, grandchildren and/or great grandchildren. He loved dancing to live music, going on hunting adventures with his boys, hitting the track either in the seat of his race car or cheering on from the sidelines, and sharing his slice of heaven on the beach of Isle La Motte.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Eldred and Arlene Cunningham, his brothers Bruce and Brian Cunningham, and his wife Michelle Bara-Cunningham.
Gary is survived by his partner Charlotte Varrichione, his siblings Bradley Cunningham, Cindy Carty, Stephen Cunningham and Vicky MacArthur. His Children Kami Cunningham and her husband Jeff, Darcy Cunningham and Michael Cunningham and his wife Cara. Grandchildren Dakota (Tamara), Casey (Sarah), Amanda, Dylan, Justin, Brooke (Ryan), Taylor (Kobe), Jordan, Logan, RJ and Eli. Great Grand Children Michael, Koda, Nolan, Lukas, Lila, Hunter, Exelia, and Bennett. Gary also leaves behind his bonus children Jourdan, Matthew, Emma and Michael, his large extended family, and the countless friends he made throughout his loving and fulfilling life.
In the words of Gary - "I've lived the life of 10 men and have experienced a lifetime of greats, so please don't cry over me but honor me by living your life to its fullest."
A mass of Christian services will be held in Gary's honor at Christ the King, May 4th, at 1:30pm.
Per Gary's wishes, he asked to not have calling hours, but rather a celebration of his life. Please join us immediately following the services at the Doubletree Hotel Atrium from 3-7pm.
