Gary Devlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home on Jan. 11, 2026.
Gary Wayne Devlin of East Haven passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and deep devotion to family and friends.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 15, 1955, Gary was the beloved son of the late Vincent and Margaret (Murratti) Devlin. A lifelong Connecticut resident, Gary took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his life. He was the owner and operator of Superior Painting, a business he built from the ground up through dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Gary's reputation for excellence earned him dozens of loyal, repeat clients-many of whom became lifelong friends.
Before launching his own business, Gary was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft, where he proudly contributed to the construction of the presidential helicopter, "Marine One." This accomplishment was a source of great pride for Gary and a testament to his skill, precision, and strong work ethic.
Above all else, Gary was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving children, Danielle Devlin, Ellen (Chris) Schacht and Gary Devlin. He was a proud grandfather to Christopher Jr., Jacob, and Ryder, who brought him immense joy and purpose. Gary is also survived by his siblings: Irene (David) Spinato of Branford, Brian (Athelia) Devlin of Madison, and Bruce Devlin of Woodbridge, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Gary was predeceased by his brothers Michael and Vincent Devlin, and his sisters Kathryn and Ellen Devlin all of whom he held close in his heart throughout his life.
Gary will be remembered for his strong hands, generous spirit, humorous personality, and quiet loyalty. He was someone others could depend on-whether for a job well done, a helping hand, or steady guidance. His presence will be deeply missed, but his influence and love will live on through all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery on Wednesday January 14th at 11:00 AM. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements.
