Gary was born on February 25, 1941, in Anna, IL, the son of Fount and Ruth (Kollehner) Dillow. The family moved to Mt. Vernon in 1953. After graduation in 1959, he attended Tri-State College in Angola, IN. He began employment with IDOT after college and worked with them until his retirement in 1998. He joined the Illinois National Guard for 6 years in 1963. In 1965, he married Peggy Jane Stewart. All who knew Gary, knew his great love for his family and friends. Spending time with his family meant the world to him. In his spare time, you would find him either fishing or spending time with his horses.
Gary is survived by his wife, Peggy of 60 years; and his children, Timothy (wife, Angie), Deborah (husband, Bill), and James (wife, Chris); and 6 grandchildren, Hannah Dillow, Thad Dillow, Blake (Natalie) Henning, Alex Henning, Ashlyn Dillow (Michael), Jamie (Harrison) Fitzjarrald; and one great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents.
1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV): Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
