Gary Dufour 63, raised in Frenchville,ME, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024 at his residence in Hartford, CT. Gary was born in
Frenchville, ME on July 31, 1960. Gary is predeceased by his parents Emelia (Lagasse) and Wallace Dufour, along with his brothers: Roland, Roger,Wilfred, and Philip Plourde.
Gary moved to CT after graduating from Wisdom High School in
St. Agatha, ME in 1978, working at different jobs until becoming an assistant manager at the Whole Sales Food Market in Hartford, CT for over 20 years.
Rob, Gary's partner of 37 years, describes him very well. "Gary had a heart of gold. Always ready to help those in need, including giving money-which he never had much of for himself. Customers loved him for his helpful friendliness." He loved to read or watch anything about the Kennedys and Princess Diana. He had a great sense of humor. His tongue could be sharp as a knife, caustic and candid; he would then turn it into a joke. More often he would turn a phrase into something hugely and unexpectedly funny. He loved Crossword puzzles. He was his Mom's favorite wild strawberry picker because the berries would make it home. There were many ways he'd compare me with his Mom when it came to cooking certain foods and gardening. Gary married someone as alike and different from Mom as could be. Some of his favorite television shows were the Golden Girls and Murder She Wrote, Agatha Christie mysteries and British television in general. He loved to dance to classic disco, punk and 80's. He had the ability to sing the lyrics to any song, even if he hadn't heard it before. Some of his favorite music was Fleetwood Mac, Sarah Brightman, Dave Matthews. We will forever think of him when we hear Stevie Nicks songs. Our friends and family will miss him greatly.
Gary leaves behind his sisters: Theresa Plourde of Plainville, CT, Marilyn Blais-husband Dalton of Dover Froxcroth, ME, Diane Dionne-husband George of
Grand Isle, ME, Pauline Guerrrette -husband Reginald of
St. Agatha, ME, Carol Chamberland-husband Robert of
St. Agatha, ME, and Linda Ayotte-husband Roland of
St. Agatha, ME. His brothers: Fernand-wife Rinette of Farmington, CT, Ronald-wifeTerry of Terryville, CT, Vernon of Stanford Springs, CT, and Norman of
Frenchville, ME.
Rob, the family would like to extend a big thank you for taking care and loving our brother, Gary for 37 years of his life. We also would like to thank the Hospice team of Hartford, CT.
Most of all, thank You, Lord Jesus Christ, for guiding me in the final weeks of Gary's life from 600 miles away. With the help of Your Holy Spirit and face time I were able to guide Rob and my brother, Vernon, in taking care of Gary in the process of dying at home peacefully.
May the Lord Jesus Christ pour his merciful love and bountiful graces upon you to wash away all your sins and open wide the gates of Heaven for you. May Mom, Dad, Wilfred, Roger,
Roland meet you with open arms. We, your family, will miss you.
