Gary Edward Dulaney, 78 of
Colliers, WV, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at WVU Medicine, Weirton Medical Center.
Gary was born on February 16, 1947 in
Pine Grove, WV. He was the son of the late James Thomas Dulaney and Ethel Vada (Anderson) Dulaney.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany. During his time in the military, he worked as military police, trained police dogs, and earned recognition for his boxing career in both branches of service. His dedication, discipline, and strength were evident throughout his military years.
After returning home, Gary began his career at National Steel and later retired from Weirton Steel after many years of faithful service as an electrician. He took great pride in his work and was respected by those who worked alongside him. Gary was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the VFW and American Legion Post #10 in Weirton, where he valued the fellowship of his fellow veterans.
Gary will be fondly remembered for his deep love of country music. He found great joy in playing the banjo and guitar and was known for his heartfelt country singing voice. Music was a constant part of his life and brought happiness to family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of hearing him play and sing.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Norma Kay (Coen) Dulaney, four siblings, Presley Dulaney, wife Inez, Esta Chambers, Evelyn Yoho, husband, Bernard, and James Dulaney, wife, Florence and two brothers-in-law, Donald and Nick.
Gary is survived by his two children, Brady Dulaney, wife, Shelly and Darla Bowden, husband, Jason, three grandchildren, Anthony Miller, wife, Shelby, Brittney Moist, husband, Jeremy and Ryan Taylor, wife, Lyndsey, three great grandchildren, Avery, Wren and Valley, five siblings, Mary Chafin, Ronnie Dulaney, wife, Maxine, Mickey Dulaney, wife, Debbie, Ross Dulaney, wife Linda and Jeanie Norris, a brother-in-law, Harold Chambers and 100 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 PM and again on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the James Funeral Home,
Follansbee, West Virginia (304-527-1717), with his pastor, Tim Colvin, officiating, followed by Military Honors conducted by the United States Army and his comrades from American Legion Post #10.
Interment will be held privately at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest,
Colliers, WV.
