Gary Elting Obituary
He was born August 30, 1938 to William M. and Ruth D. (Miller) Elting in Kansas City, Missouri.
Gary married Constance Louise George on August 30, 1959.
After obtaining a Master's in Music Education from the University of Kansas, Gary cultivated a remarkable career with the Independence School District in Missouri. For 20 years, he inspired young minds through band, orchestra, and choir directing. His talents extended beyond the classroom; he poured his heart into leading the youth group at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Independence, Missouri, where he also shared his love for woodworking. He also skillfully crafted Celtic crosses.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dolores Holmes.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Gregory (Jennifer) and Mark (Kim Schutte) Elting; grandchildren, Jesse (Moriah) and Ryan Elting; one great-grandson on the way.
Celebration of Life 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 5, Savannah United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Music Memorial at Savannah United Methodist Church or donor's choice. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
