Gary Franks was born on July 14, 1940 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late William Almond and Fannie Jane Austin Franks.
Gary was united in marriage to Marrece Bevis, who preceded her husband in death on November 11, 2002. On September 3, 2004, he was united in marriage to Vickie Sweat, who preceded her husband in death on November 9, 2020.
Garry retired from Roach's Sawmill and was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales. Gary liked to cook for a big crowd and have lots of family get togethers.
Gary Franks departed this life on February 2, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Melson of Savannah, Tennessee and Renee Rickman of Selmer, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Renee Fults; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, Gary was preceded in death by his stepson, Gary Fults; sisters, Robbie Pipes, Lura Brown, and Emogene Haynes; and brothers, William "Red" Franks, Joe Franks, Paul Franks, and L.D. Franks.
