Gary Gilley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Winthrop on Mar. 1, 2026.
Vienna- Gary Gilley, age 65, passed away on February 26, 2026, surrounded by his family after a nine-month battle with brain cancer.

Born on September 20, 1960, Gary was raised with the values that would define his life- hard work, loyalty, and generosity. He graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1977 and went on to build a life rooted in dedication to both his craft and his family. Gary was known for his unmatched work ethic and his sense of humor that never left him, even in his final days. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Hard work wasn't just something he did; it was simply who he was.

A true jack of all trades, there was little Gary couldn't fix or figure out. He took pride in working with his hands and spent years building both a reputation and a family business alongside his wife and sons as owner of Northwest Chimneys. Working side by side with his sons was one of his greatest joys, and he passed down not only his skills but also his integrity and determination.

Outside of work, Gary loved tinkering on just about anything and had a special passion for old cars. He was always happiest with a project in front of him. But more than anything, he cherished his family. Gary was proudly married to the love of his life, Kathy, for over 42 years. Their marriage was built on devotion, partnership, and unwavering love. His grandchildren - Madison, Brody, Reagan, and Scotty - were the light of his life. Being "Papa" brought him more pride and joy than anything else.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lorraine Gilley; his sister, Linda Gilley Campbell and her partner, Reggie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Gilley; his sons, Gary Gilley Jr. and Kyle Gilley and wife Lila; his beloved grandchildren, Madison, Brody, Reagan, and Scotty; his siblings, Jim Gilley and wife Patti, Donna Tims and husband Greg, and Jeff Gilley and wife Peggy; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Gary leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, laughter, and deep devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
